It has been such a terrible winter. Freezing cold, with snow one week, lovely sunshine the next. None of us were brave enough to consider entering an aquathlon in this weather… other than Alison Macdonald, who is not only recovering from a shoulder operation which she had at the beginning of this winter, but she is also a multi-sport virgin!

She turned up, did an amazing swim, managed to get herself out of the deep end with her recovering shoulder (something I struggle with on a regular basis without a bad shoulder… much to our club members amusement!), then an awesome first ever T1 time. She even ran without socks!

Due to the junior races on the same day, the run route seems to be different to the December Splash and Dash version that most of us are used to, as there are laps of the playing field before going onto the easy old railway track. So it is hard going on the lumpy grass. Alison did amazing.

Well done Alison for popping your multi-sport cherry! You did us proud!
